Dear Alternative readers:
If anything should be clear to those who seek news and opinion from The Bloomington Alternative, it’s that none of us who make this publication possible do it for the money. No one has ever made any money off it. Even when I was able to pay contributors for their work, the rate was literally nickels on the hour.
But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have expenses. We have to pay for our Web hosting. We have to pay for the technical expertise a Web site the size and complexity of our requires. We have office and travel expenses. We have to pay for fliers and other promotional materials.
I have private health insurance to pay for, out of pocket, each month. I’d also like to promote the Alternative in other local media again, like we did this summer with WFHB, courtesy of Mother Bear’s Pizza.
And I should pay my contributors.
I’m not going to ramble on about what you get here that you don’t get in other media, anywhere. That is, after all, why you read us.
I’m just going to ask you to help us keep our independent media voice in Bloomington.
Thanks for reading, and for your support.
