Pedigo Bay fines

Scott Wells provided the following summary of fines levied against developer Steve Smith and the Pedigo Bay development on Lake Monroe.

Nov. 2, 2000 - Developer Seven Flags, Inc. Steve and Janet Smith part owners, for grading several acres, clearing trees on steep slopes, and starting road construction without obtaining an Improvement Location Permit (ILP). Fine levied by the Monroe County Planning Department.Fine: $1,100.

Dec. 28, 2001 - Developer Pedigo Bay Development, L.L.C., Steve Smith partner, for trying to put an illegal road east of Stewart Road onto Steve Smith's property connecting PB Estates LLC. Fine levied by Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Indiana Department of Environmental Management, and Monroe County Planning Department.Fine: $17,400.

May 23, 2002 – Developer PB Estates LLC, Steve Smith partner, for failure to provide an ILP, implement the ILP, and illegal tree cuts.Fine: $23,100

Total fines: $41,600.

BEDC

Monroe County’s two school corporations are members of the Bloomington Economic Development Corp. but do not pay the $5,000 annual dues. Neither do the Sassafras Audubon Society, White River Labor Council or Small Business Development Corp.

Andy Ruff

Andy Ruff was the second-leading vote-getter in a seven-way race for three at-large City Council seats. Incumbent Councilman Tony Pizzo received the most votes.
